Online branding can be an overwhelming task today with all the new social marketing areas on the internet. Don’t try to do everything at once.

Post a picture of yourself so folks can see who you are. There is someone behind this website or blog. Create a small bio to tell folks about who you are.
Understand your message
Once you understand what your message is going to be (something you are passionate about) start creating content so folks will begin to know you and trust you.
It’s not about building a large number of followers at your social network, you need to have folks that are interested in what you are saying and trust you.
Remember, you have an online business and are looking for customers not a bunch of numbers. I don’t think saying you have 100,000 followers on Twitter will buy you much.

How many times have you clicked on some advertisement and it does not say anything about what the headline said? When that happens you have lost your potential customer, they no longer trust you and have pressed the back button.

Once your customers start knowing you, because you have successfully branded yourself by writing and publishing helpful information, they will know when you do not write your articles and will let you know. They trust you, know your style and want to hear from you.
Once you have used the new tools on the internet to brand yourself keep mindful of that. You don't want to betray your customers they have learned to trust you so, don't loose that trust.
