Autoresponders Should Not be Used for SPAM
Autoresponders were first used in large corporations to send canned messages back from a help desk to acknowledge your problem had been received and will be worked on.
As the internet has evolved these automated e-mails have become very popular to acknowledge the sale of a product or tell you about ongoing merchandise sales.
However, with more folks turning to the internet to set up a home business there can be a bunch of spam generated by autoresponders.
Don't generate automatic e-mails to spam folks – they will not like you!
Automated tools are now used as a marketing device
With today's marketing blitz everywhere and everyone turning to the internet to find more competitive prices or just the convenience of shopping from home the one thing always collected is your e-mail address for future use.
It may be true that seven is the magic number to get folks to buy something or respond, but my automatic delete function that comes with any e-mail software works very well!
I don't even have to see the unsolicited e-mails from these companies or other marketing folks. They simply go to my delete bucket. I don't even think I wait until the seventh e-mail so be careful with automated tools.
Home businesses are using automated tools now
There are many home businesses out on the internet today that use autoresponders to keep in touch with their customers and disseminate information.
What I see happening with this is; I receive the same message over and over again. There is useful information that comes out, but I must be honest, I'm not so sure folks won't start unsubscribing to these automatic e-mails if they don't provide some useful information.
I almost think it is a better idea to put out a monthly e-zine to help your customers and keep in touch with them unless there is something very worth while to let them know. There are many other options to communication nowadays.
Don't SPAM Folks With the Same Information or Useless Information
I understand everyone wants a million dollars their first year in a home business, but you really want to have a sustaining business. Stop with the instant gratification mentality of today's society and build a long lasting business.
People don't want to see something you put out everyday when it is not part of a series you signed up for. I don't want to keep hearing about someone else who has succeeded in 10 days.
That type of e-mail makes me feel like an idiot which could lead me to start playing the numbers game. Don't do it. Use your autoresponders to connect with your customers and provide them good useful information through an e-zine.
When you don't SPAM your customers they will read what you send them, if it is useful. They will also read your blog, website, Facebook or twitter account.
Don't send yourself to the delete bucket before being read. Delete is also an automatic function! Remember, automatically generated e-mail was originally set up to provide a service so let's keep it that way.
