Social Networking Tips for Online and Offline Social Marketing
These social networking tips will show you how similar all social networking is.
How many of you have networked in your community so you can find out about new jobs and keep abreast of what is going on in your community? I would say most all of us.
When you’re at these social events do folks come around and say: Hello, I have a lot to offer you so give me your business card and then I will talk to you. NO, they do not.
If someone came up to me at a social gathering and the first words out of their mouth were: I made $30,000 last week do you want to know how? Well, I would run from them too.
This is not the way to network offline so why do folks think it’s okay online?
Offer Assistance
When you are good at what you do you need to covey your expertise to the group.
When you help folks, you assist them by advancing their goals, sharing their goals with others and introducing them to new contacts in your network. This gives the group well rounded folks with different skills contributing to the whole.
Don’t Join All the Online Networking Sites
Only join the networking sites you can manage. If you are not participating in the network why bother to join. If you went to a social event and stood in the corner, said nothing and never participated that would be the same thing as just joining social networks.
If you join Twitter and Facebook for instance, put valuable information out for folks to read. Invite folks to follow you and follow others. Communicate with them and ask if you can help them with anything.
When you invite someone to follow you, send a message with your invitation. Tell them why you may be helpful. If you write something like, we are both following Mike are you taking his training classes, you have something in common and can talk about it.
Don’t Spam When You are Using Social Networking Sites
We have all seen it. When folks start using social networking sites they immediately start sending out affiliate links, landing pages, and buy here now links for you to purchase something from them.
I think to myself, how did I get this idiot on my social site.
When using Facebook or other social sites. Post on your site at least once a week.
Do not spam folks with useless garbage such as landing pages and nothing else.
Post a website page you have added to your site.
If you come across a helpful article by someone else post it to your site.
Promote what your downline is doing. I’m sure they are writing useful information that can help others.
These social networking tips will help you build relationships whether it is online or offline.
They are very similar, although sometimes I don’t think folks understand the similarities.
Remember, if we are standing face to face, would you be insulting me? What ever you do online, should be able to translate to offline.
It has become all too easy for folks to become rude online and worse yet, people accept it. Set a good example.
